-
1 tsp hot sauce
-
3 tbsp white vinegar
-
Juice from ½ lemon
-
2-3 cloves garlic
-
Salt
-
Black pepper
-
6 slices bacon
-
1 large green tomato
-
All-purpose flour
-
Panko
-
3 eggs
-
2 tbsp milk
-
Oil for frying
Instructions
Set smoker to 325F.
Score the hot dogs with a diamond pattern. Place in the smoker for 20 minutes.
Thinly shave the onions and cut pickles into thin rounds and set aside.
To make the Alabama white sauce, mix the mayo, mustard, horseradish, hot sauce, vinegar, lemon juice and mix. Grate in the garlic, season with salt and pepper and mix. Let set in the fridge.
Cook your bacon on the flattop until desired doneness. Remove from the grill onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Set aside.
Add a wok or pan to the elevated grill rack and add your oil.
Slice the green tomato. In a bowl, add the flour, in another bowl add the panko and in a third bowl beat together the eggs and milk. Dip each piece of tomato in flour, then egg wash, then panko until fully coated. Place in the hot oil and fry, flipping occasionally, until golden brown. Once done, remove from oil onto a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
Remove the hot dogs from the smoker and place on the flattop to sear. Toast your buns on the flattop.
Transfer the Alabama white sauce to a squeeze bottle. Chop up the bacon.
To plate, add your buns to a platter and place 1 to 2 fried green tomatoes in each bun. Add the sliced onions next, then the pickles, then the hot dogs. Drizzle the Alabama white sauce over all the hot dogs and sprinkle on the chopped bacon.
